an embrace of morning light

The rush of the day has yet to start as random streaks of light share skin with a lover’s touch. Smiles and caresses and kisses follow. His hand tenderly cradles her breasts as she exhales. She gingerly massages his balls and shaft arousing humor and sensual tension. The sun starts losing in the competition for attention as the acts of affection become more intense and passionate. The night before may have been filled with the struggles of the world and day ahead may not be much different; but none of that matters now. At the birthing of the new day, lovers surrender themselves to the moment....

twisting my baby’s locs…

Hey, Lotus. I think my twists could use some tightenin’ up. Can you hook me up? Yeah, Masai. But not here, in the other room. You feel me? Yeah… I feel you… Early in the morning, in that room (you know… the one in the back where all of the stuff you don’t throw away is put because you don’t know what to do with it) earthSista Lotus began to carefully twist the strands of hair of the new earthBrotha Masai. The dawning sun pierced the blinds of the windows that had no curtains painting streaks of lights on the couch, the couple and collection of drawings and sketches...

SirReal… one eye shut

What I find after going through the archives of his photos is that there is a depth and a closeness to his photos. The pictures seem 3 dimensional even though I’m viewing them on a screen. I feel as if I can touch the people, smell the grass and feel the wind that’s softly blowing in the model’s hair. How does he capture a moment that evokes so much sensory response? I have no clue. But it just feels good looking at his pictures. - Sheena L. Young Dexter WordSmith Jones says he’s Poet, Photographer, Graphic Designer, Host, Singer, MC, & Actor in Training. When it comes to his...

Shades of Chocolate: an ECCENTRICsoul experience

“Roommates” It was an erotic story I wrote last Spring, When I sat down with Nala and remy the ECCENTRICsoul to plan our shoot, we decided to build a visual concept around my story. We were going to take an artistic interpretation the story with me as a writer toiling away with the story, Nala as my manifested imagination, and Remy behind the lens being the “eyes” of the male character by creating a series of dramatic images.  However, it ended up being more of a celebration of our diverse and natural Black beauty. The contrast of our lovely natural crowns, the shades of our brown...

Inspirations of an AfroerotiK romance – part two – the HEAT

…“I want to taste you,” he whispered, “I’ve been waiting for this moment from the day we met.  I need to feel you explode in my mouth.  I want to give you pleasure untold and drink freely from your center.”  I slid my finger between my engorged lips, brought my finger to my lips and seductively sucked it, tasting my slippery, sweet juices… excerpt from Scottie Lowe’s At Last a tale of romance in Scottie’s AfroerotiK Its just moments. The secret moments. Hidden under covers in darkness, not in shame but as guilty pleasures. Should we open ourselves up so much?...

COCO… a stroll into the night…

COCO strolled toward the gazebo that jutted out across the still lake. Overhead, the sun dropped lower and lower behind the canopy of trees as the silent waters began to take on an ethereal abiance… There was something inviting about the approaching darkness. It had enticed COCO and she wanted to enjoy it. Earlier in the day she was a proud Amazon swimsuit model but in the night, she was the playfully sensual temptress. The darkness wrapped around her like a cool comfortable blanket. Her beautiful dark skin was bare against it. The rush of the day had faded and the stillness of the evening...

Smoke… with GreenRose & FlowerChild

It was almost spontaneous… almost. In the wake of a NatureStroll, we simply decided that we wanted to create another set of images that played with the dance of smoke. This was just a couple of days after the images I had created at an earthSista gathering and I wanted to continue to play with light and shadow and smoke. GreenRose and FlowerChild being their typically creative and fun-loving selves embraced the idea almost immediately. The smoke danced, seductively from their lips. Nebulous and intoxicating, it gyrated spontaneously between the earthSistas creating a bond of play that made for...

let’s see ourselves beautiful again….

Black people need 2 see images of ourselves w/ humanity. women beautiful regardless of size, shape or complexion. men strong, sensitive & loving. parents & children caring & happy. couples in love in warm intimate moments. us as lovers, sensual & sexy but not nasty even when we’re nasty. this is not 2 say that other folks dont need 2 see themselves in certain ways. but, i dont know those ways. i DO know how my folks r being fooled by & misrepresented in arts & media. & i DO know how its affecting us. so, all the work i do is in the intention of combatting that....

Inspirations of an AfroerotiK romance – part one

Several months ago Scottie Lowe shared her AfroerotiK romance, At Last. And we were so inspired by this creation that several of us worked together to create captures that visually imagined her prose. Moments in her story like… “He could whisper in my ear, telling me all the things he wanted to do to me, describing his fantasies about me in poetic, glorious detail and I would melt.” and… “Instinctively, I pushed back, grinding the soft, full curves of my ass against him, leaning my body back and luxuriating in his hands caressing my waist and his nibbles to my earlobe....

a moment in velvet…

I am Jirard… I like taking pictures…what else is there to know? OK, OK I guess I’ll give you a lil bit more… My foundation is as a visual artist (mostly pencil and pastel work). I feel this has aided me greatly in my current endeavors. Since upgrading to the digital realm of photography I’m especially interested in doing something different or out of the box. While my work is definitely not void of deliberation, I wouldn’t consider it overtly intentional. Although I may set the stage, I like my shoots to be organic, free-flowing collaborations between the subject...
