Small, lazy breezes blanketed the late afternoon sun as earthSista Isis surveyed the meditative seduction of the lake, the trees and the sky. Named after the Egyptian goddess of nature and magic, the young nubian’s captivating beauty was only enhanced by her surroundings. She strolled proudly and gracefully in the atypically warm weather, basking in nature’s glory. Baring all to God’s glory, Isis is expressive and resplendent and candid. She brought the whole woman to nature, bright nature and her dark seduction to these captures. She was the exemplar of natural glamour.

Playfully exuberant, earthSista MoreEssence (MoEss for short) gleefully marveled at the exquisite hand-crafted artistry of Moebanga bangles. MoEss started this photo shoot in her favorite HarvestGirl design. And as the late morning sun bounced brightly off the white Egyptian cotton sheets, she laughed and smiled in awe of the creative variety that artist-photographer-cinematographer (an all-around creative) Maurice Evans had spawned. MoEss was sassy, provocative and beguiling. She was also delightfully mischievous and frankly lighthearted; a true free-spirit. When we created these images, I was...

BleuRose kept saying how cold it was! Grinning from ear to ear, playfully strutting like a peacock, she appeared to be basking in the sun but she was not kidding. It was really cool out. Although the sun shined brightly, it was early in the day, air was dry and while the wind was comforting, the sun heat was not with us at that time. And even know she talked about it, the earthSista never complained. BleuRose’s spirits were high as always (I’ve yet to see this sista face challenge with anything less than positive attitude.) The earthSista’s lighthearted nature was infectious and...

Cooling winds of winter are approaching in these days before the holiday and I looked back and remember the blistering heat of a summer past. It was a long stroll with earthSista Chadoe in the early days of the Garden as an online community and she was one of the its rebel cultivators. Curious and liberated, the self-made young sista and I strolled casually in the sweltering sun of the day. It was the perfect time defy convention and bare all. The breezes were light and rare and precious. And the sun made Chadoe glow. The intensity of the heat was only matched by the intensity in Chadoe’s...

Makeda has contributed to the cultivation of Pangea since the beginning. She has always been a favored muse. She is inspiration in body and mind. I’ve wanted to create captures with her since her first commentary here in the Garden. But I am in Atlanta and while this New York resident travels frequently, the sensual strength guru was always busy training her clients and hosting workshops. But as fortune would have it, she and I and stylist Nobella were able to come together to create this set of images. We hope that you like them and I think she should do more.
Don’t you?

Handmade necklaces were scattered along the nature trail in various places along the stroll and the concept was to leave what you had before for a something better along your journey. It was a little deep and a bit of a stretch but we were experimenting with new ways of approaching the Nature Stroll Series. I came up with the idea with earthSista Serene in mind and she (always anxious to try something different) agreed to participate.
The beautiful baubles, provided by Nobella Creations, stylishly represented the rewards of liberation. The strands of fabric in which Serene was draped symbolized...

Whispers of winds rustled the leaves while RaeOfLite felt the breezes against her skin like the gentle caresses of Mother Nature. Sunlight danced between the trees and kissed and her skin. She took it all in. Clearing her mind of the troubles of the day, RaeOfLite allowed the flush of nature to flow through her, becoming a part of it; respecting it. The joy that came with it was serene and peaceful. And from it came a strength and focus that empowered the young earthSista. No drama. No stress. Not there. Not then. RaeOfLite approached this setting tabula rasa; absent of any preconceived ideas or...

My Mother was a Muur-maid
My father- a Navy Seal
I bare a wound that will not heal
As fate should have it, I can not swim
In return the Universe gave me gorgeous limbs…
I praise the earth and long for the sea
So naturally Pangea’s Garden is home for me
I wander the world at peace and with grace
With pride and pain upon my face
Every scar on my body considered a jewel
Every lesson in life considered a tool
In my hair appears two shells each year
The Summer and Winter of my Mother’s tears
There’s an ocean in the garden
And there’s a flower in the sea
My beauty is like my tail fin
Only truly...

Several floors above the city, we began a curious excursion. We had talked about it for weeks, pondering the “whens” and “hows” and “looks” of this endeavor. earthSista Sabali lives in Alabama and I am in Atlanta. During a weekend excursion to Georgia with her sisters, we had planned to get together. We had discussed what we wanted to create and yet among the skyscrapers in the ATL we ignored all of the plans and the setup. Instead it was an intuitive moment marked with discreet activities that were inspired and intended to be shared. Sabali was playful and artistic,;...
