For Real Tho! paid a visit to the Naptural Roots Launch Party… It was an exciting event, celebrating the move of Naptural Roots Magazine from its original Seattle location to its new home in Atlanta. Taking place at Othello’s Event Hall in Atlanta’s West End, the spectacle takes place the night before the World Natural Hair Show. Vendors were on hand with fabulous products. Pezo Johnson from Poems Over Pistols drops by for a chat; as does Kumi Rauf from I Love Being Black. And, of course, Leanne Dolce the founder and publisher of Naptural Roots Magazine also stops by and shares...

“if it wasn’t for the modeling I would’ve never met some amazing photographers, got glimpses into other subcultures and made some great friends”
Abigail Ekue
At one point, I was pondering what to blog about and within minutes, Raising Hope switched to a scene of Jimmy in an art class where his girlfriend walks in as the nude art model. The moment of truth–could he date a nude model?
I’ve done nude modeling since 2006. I’m not as active as I used to be because I’m more selective of the photographers I work with and the projects they present to...

Artistic. Creative. Beautiful. Influential. Sexy. Ambitious. Talented. Fearless.
In front of the camera, B. Breezy is that fashion diva that demands attention. And there is absolutely nothing you can do but to give. Petite and demure up close but positive, explosive and daring is what she brings to the shoot and gives to the camera. She doesn’t hold back because she doesn’t have to. Her passion is fashion photography and every efforts she makes is designed to create that provocative image that takes your experience of it to the next level. Whether she is behind or in front of the camera,...

Dexter SirReal Jones’ works are a visual party. He has this habit of taking everything (the model, the environment, the surrounding accessories, the fashion, the make-up, everything!) and juxtapositions it all in unconventional ways. He does it with a purposeful manner, creating Hip Hop interpretations of fashion and glamour, breaking the limits the status quo for those styles . His recognition of the the unique beauty of the Afrosensual is evident in his works and he has this uncanny ability of portraying it in ways we’ve never seen before.
Pangea has a new voice today: Fashion &...

Inspired by my love for my people, art and imagery, I gave birth to Unspoken Word Designs (UWD) in 2004. One of my missions of UWD is to provoke thought through artistic expression and to reintroduce positive, reflective messages that encompass empowerment, inspiration and motivation to a diverse audience. I believe that if you provoke a little thought, you have the ability to change the world!
I am a mommy, artist, educator, entrepreneur, dancer, leader….a queen. All of my worlds are interconnected and is yearning or some growth…..nurturing…freedom…something fresh, funky and empowering.

There is so much beauty in the world…
Going into this week we have a lot look forward. Fashion model Errika, the Earth Angel make an appearance in the Pangea’s Garden Project with images of her own beauty and thoughts on Fashion culture, music and and the struggle to find comfort in her own skin.
We finally see the much demanded (believe me, everybody, I heard you!!!) second part of the Photographer’s Cut of Scottie’s AfroerotiK romance, AT Last. Raw and colorful, these final captures that were originally (and wrongfully) left on the cutting room floor make their appearance...

StarClark
a gifted young voice that makes the mind wander, “How do she know about that”?
Well, it’s easy to get it confused by her age but don’t second guess her insight. The Point of View for her verse and prose is merely an outlook of an “On the Other Hand” perspective, providing us with a deeper and poetic interpretation on the reality of the situation.
StarClark is a “Real Life”, “Straight Talk” young poet that writes about the things she has experienced. The young poetess is on a journey of creative self-exploration through prose and verse...
