an end-of-the-day
exploration with earthSistas
GreenRose & FlowerChild
After a productive day of shooting, earthSistas GreenRose and FlowerChild took a moment to relax and review the images they had created. And as the sun had started to set and we had a one more moment of inspiration; silhouettes at sunset. This wasn’t an image set ; simply an exploration. Some of the captures were irreverent while others were intense. All were casual; a couple of beautiful people relaxing at the end of the day. GreenRose and FlowerChild watched the darkness fall on day well spent.

About three months ago, I had the opportunity to do a photoshoot with one of my friends. It was a perfect suggestion, seeing as how I love posing in front of the camera and she had just bought a new camera and was looking to get back into photography. After doing a couple photoshoots, I sat down with Ashley Donald for a brief Q&A about her photography and her “roots”.
How did you get interested in photography?
I’ve always been interested in visual arts and photography is a way to capture life…I mean, life is amazing and when you take pictures you get to share your...

I wanted to do something peaceful.
I was inspired by a promo photo of Marsha Ambrosius for her new single ”I Hope She Cheats on You (With a Basketball Player)”. She’s sitting in a window, looking out and everything about it was just so casual. That’s how I am on a daily basis -ultra casual- and I wanted Vince to capture it. The rooftop was the perfect location with the backdrop of the city behind me and the mid-morning sun casting it’s golden rays across a clear blue sky on everything and adding to the peacefulness and solidarity that comes from...

He says he’s an EccentricSoul with a vision. And from his imagination he tells stories of the unseen. Indeed. As an artist of photography, Remy constantly, seeks to elevate himself creatively by stepping outside of his fine art comfort zone and manifesting his style for fashion and couture. And he seeks out women and men who DARE to step outside the box with him. All of his models agree that when they work with him, he definitely takes their ports to another level.
Remy employs colours in their vivid and primary forms. He exploits their richness to enhance the passion in his captures....

So I’m at Apache Cafe and Lounge and I am talking to some of the patrons about the portal and the types of images I think we should capture. Artistic…sexy…provocative, most of the things we say are typically used for almost every other venue that focuses on creating beautiful images of women. But no matter how sexy or revealing, there is some aspect to the content that has to be considered.
Now not all of what is posted to the portal will be for everyone’s taste. And I personally feel that I walk a line when I consider what I want to create for the Garden. And this is the...

Just taking a breath. This is my 101st entry and I was just reflecting on how this all came to me and what its about. It didn’t start with the conversation on hair. It was before that and it was at this place. And this model, Xian, was one of the muses.
In a week or so, (ironing out a few technical kinks) the portal will go live and this blog will be a part of it. And it will be as the blog has been, a repository of images of the beauty, glamour & sensuality of EarthSistas, a haven for ideas on the influences of Afrocentricity in art, culture, sexuality, politics, music, family…life....
