BlackGirlsKillingIt (BGKI) is the brainchild of Neil Alvin. Its an extraordinary Tumblr blog featuring images of well-dressed, impeccably-styled black women. Periodically, BGKI features an interview with a sista whose personal style is unique and fabulous. In this post, BGKI interviews Folake Kuye Huntoon, editor of StylePantry.com, the “fashion and lifestyle stockiest.”
How would you define your personal style?
I’d say it’s Three’s company meets Woodstock meets Today’s fashion!
Do you find that you follow fashion trends, or do you play by your own rules?
I have always played...

Called the fashion diva, B. Breezy, to check in; wanted to see what she was up to lately. Busy, as usual, the photographer/model and model’s role model shared a few recent images, courtesy of The Studio Concept. When asked what she was up to, B. Breezy had this to say:
“Ok, let’s see…I currently have a site (TheUltraModel.com) that features inspiring models and female role models. It’s about the positive things they are doing in their communities as well as their goals and dreams they have for their business. Each model or role model has a picture gallery (shot by...

Some weeks back we featured another story from Vogue Italia; it’s Tribute to Black Beauties. Featuring the photographic works of Ellen von Unwerth, it was modern, irreverent look at the beauty and glamour of fashion’s black models. Its tongue-in-cheek humor and appeal was upbeat and adorable. However, a few months before, Vogue Italia featured the works of Emma Summerton. This feature was called Black Allure and it was opposite of Tribute. It was 1920s vintage, elegant, moody and very high class.
From the article in Vogue Italia: The black allure photographed by Emma Summerton...

For Real Tho! paid a visit to the Naptural Roots Launch Party… It was an exciting event, celebrating the move of Naptural Roots Magazine from its original Seattle location to its new home in Atlanta. Taking place at Othello’s Event Hall in Atlanta’s West End, the spectacle takes place the night before the World Natural Hair Show. Vendors were on hand with fabulous products. Pezo Johnson from Poems Over Pistols drops by for a chat; as does Kumi Rauf from I Love Being Black. contemplative moments before the stroll….
GreenRose and FlowerChild on their first visit together at Pangea’s ’secret garden’ prepared for their second walk in the Nature Stroll Series. Its a quick moment of reflection and reverence. The mysterious pair were their usual spirited and supportive selves. On this bright and beautiful day GreenRose and FlowerChild were delightful and lovely. Admiring and encouraging one another’s fashions and looks, the young ladies shared a quintessential ‘girly moment’ of silliness and narcissism.
Playful and poignant, contemplative...

Artistic. Creative. Beautiful. Influential. Sexy. Ambitious. Talented. Fearless.
In front of the camera, B. Breezy is that fashion diva that demands attention. And there is absolutely nothing you can do but to give. Petite and demure up close but positive, explosive and daring is what she brings to the shoot and gives to the camera. She doesn’t hold back because she doesn’t have to. Her passion is fashion photography and every efforts she makes is designed to create that provocative image that takes your experience of it to the next level. Whether she is behind or in front of the camera,...
