Makeda… body science in nature

Makeda has contributed to the cultivation of Pangea since the beginning. She has always been a favored muse. She is inspiration in body and mind. I’ve wanted to create captures with her since her first commentary here in the Garden. But I am in Atlanta and while this New York resident travels frequently, the sensual strength guru was always busy training her clients and hosting workshops. But as fortune would have it, she and I and stylist Nobella were able to come together to create this set of  images. We hope that you like them and I think she should do more. Don’t you? A...

Serene… trinkets of liberation

Handmade necklaces were scattered along the nature trail in various places along the stroll and the concept was to leave what you had before for a something better along your journey. It was a little deep and a bit of a stretch but we were experimenting with new ways of approaching the Nature Stroll Series. I came up with the idea with earthSista Serene in mind and she (always anxious to try something different) agreed to participate. The beautiful baubles, provided by Nobella Creations, stylishly represented the rewards of liberation. The strands of fabric in which Serene was draped symbolized...

AlleyCat… poetry & waterfalls

My Mother was a Muur-maid My father- a Navy Seal I bare a wound that will not heal As fate should have it, I can not swim In return the Universe gave me gorgeous limbs… I praise the earth and long for the sea So naturally Pangea’s Garden is home for me I wander the world at peace and with grace With pride and pain upon my face Every scar on my body considered a jewel Every lesson in life considered a tool In my hair appears two shells each year The Summer and Winter of my Mother’s tears There’s an ocean in the garden And there’s a flower in the sea My beauty is like my tail fin Only truly...

pgp271: Sunset & Silhouettes

an end-of-the-day exploration with earthSistas GreenRose & FlowerChild After a productive day of shooting, earthSistas GreenRose and FlowerChild took a moment to relax and review the images they had created. And as the sun had started to set and we had a one more moment of inspiration; silhouettes at sunset. This wasn’t an image set ; simply an exploration. Some of the captures  were irreverent while others were intense. All were casual; a couple of beautiful people relaxing at the end of the day. GreenRose and FlowerChild watched the darkness fall on day well spent. More...

MoreEssence…baobab inspiration

Honestly, is that proverb really true? The Baobab tree truly is a source of inspiration. Its generous spirit and life-giving properties has been renowned in stories told for centuries. The Baobab is one of the longest living trees in the world. Native to the dry plains of Central Africa, where its considered by many to be the dwelling place of departed spirits, the baobab has been used as a source of water by some and a home by others. Looking like trees that have been planted upside down these  uniquely iconic symbols of long life inspired earthSista MoEss and artists Maurice Evans and Grace...

GreenRose & FlowerChild… secrets in the trees

Beautiful retro-style print dresses gave way to the hints of breezes on a hot sunny day. That was how the stroll began. GreenRose and FlowerChild were sassy, elusive and playful, which is typical for them. On this second nature stroll together the earthSistas went for a walk at Pangea’s ’secret garden.’ And whereas their first stroll had a fragile, poignant and ethereal feel to it, this one was more upbeat and bright, rich and colorful. The images of these earthSistas were exuberant and inspired. Open and adventurous, GreenRose and FlowerChild gossiped about the day’s events...

pgp258: contemplation before a stroll

contemplative moments before the stroll…. GreenRose and FlowerChild on their first visit together at Pangea’s ’secret garden’ prepared for their second walk in the Nature Stroll Series. Its a quick moment of reflection and reverence. The mysterious pair were their usual spirited and supportive selves. On this bright and beautiful day GreenRose and FlowerChild were delightful and lovely. Admiring and encouraging one another’s fashions and looks, the young ladies shared a quintessential ‘girly moment’ of silliness and narcissism. Playful and poignant, contemplative...

pgp251: Behind the Scenes with Sincere

Against a backdrop of graffiti art, untamed urban vegetation growing wildly over chain-link fences, earthSistas Chadoe and Nfinite enjoyed the creation of the debut image set of earthSista Sincere. Maybe “enjoyed” is too strong a word, because, there was a great deal of work involved and the sun was pretty hot. But it was fun. The scene and the earthSista were both inspiring and the captures was fabulous, to say the least. The images from the shoot will premiere in the Garden in a couple of days. In the meantime, we thought these images of the behind-the-scenes shenanigans were worth...
