As we get ready for tonight I am reminded of how much fun I have had with earthSistas over the past few months. Since May, we’ve included images from the events and culture of that cultivate the Garden. From the Malcolm X fest to the Funky Ass Party to House in the Park, we’ve enjoyed ourselves and in many cases, the earthSistas have participated in the occurrences we recorded. Late in the spring, we started creating images of sistas and the earthSistas taking strolls around lakes and thru woods, basking in the sun and enjoying the flowing waters of the nearby lakes. There is an inherent splendor in humanity’s communion with nature; its a humbling and sensuous reverence for the miracles we are fortunate to be a part of. Chadoe carries herself like a nubian princess surveying the Serengeti in this third installment of the Nature’s Stroll series. Such a stance is what comes natural to her. Head held high with a steely gaze, she either looks you in the eye as if to peer directly into your soul for some hidden truth or she looks to the heavens like a woman with a vision. Free-spirited best friends on a nature’s stroll. It was carefree, genuine and experimental. Would You Have Your Body Painted at an Art Party AND Would You Want to Paint on a Body ? That was the question we were left with at the end of the set of images from the first part of the Art Part on the Roof! Many of the images will be like the ones here; artistic, experimental… while other will be be lush, colorful and bright. The site covers a range of topics, with special focus on career, culture, sexuality and women’s issues. Hershey stood next to the windowed door so that I could watch how the light fell on her when she got a phone call. And then she got a text. Followed by a phone call another text and so on.
