Called the fashion diva, B. Breezy, to check in; wanted to see what she was up to lately. Busy, as usual, the photographer/model and model’s role model shared a few recent images, courtesy of The Studio Concept. When asked what she was up to, B. Breezy had this to say:
“Ok, let’s see…I currently have a site (TheUltraModel.com) that features inspiring models and female role models. It’s about the positive things they are doing in their communities as well as their goals and dreams they have for their business. Each model or role model has a picture gallery (shot by...

Some weeks back we featured another story from Vogue Italia; it’s Tribute to Black Beauties. Featuring the photographic works of Ellen von Unwerth, it was modern, irreverent look at the beauty and glamour of fashion’s black models. Its tongue-in-cheek humor and appeal was upbeat and adorable. However, a few months before, Vogue Italia featured the works of Emma Summerton. This feature was called Black Allure and it was opposite of Tribute. It was 1920s vintage, elegant, moody and very high class.
From the article in Vogue Italia: The black allure photographed by Emma Summerton...

Vogue Italia published a tribute to black beauties as their most recent spread featuring the awesome work of German photographer Ellen von Unwerth. Featuring models, Jeneil Williams, Cici Ali, Ubah Hassan, Gayle McDonald, Kelly Moreira, Jae Childs, R’el Dade, Jasmine Tookas, Lily Taylor, and Ariel Meredith, the playful captures are bright, colorful and extremely cool.
Claire Sulmers, Editor and Chief of Fashionbombdaily.com, who crafted the article for the feature had this to say: “With bright eyes peering out under deliciously curled lashes, cheekbones and jawbones contoured as if chiseled...

Artistic. Creative. Beautiful. Influential. Sexy. Ambitious. Talented. Fearless.
In front of the camera, B. Breezy is that fashion diva that demands attention. And there is absolutely nothing you can do but to give. Petite and demure up close but positive, explosive and daring is what she brings to the shoot and gives to the camera. She doesn’t hold back because she doesn’t have to. Her passion is fashion photography and every efforts she makes is designed to create that provocative image that takes your experience of it to the next level. Whether she is behind or in front of the camera,...

Dexter SirReal Jones’ works are a visual party. He has this habit of taking everything (the model, the environment, the surrounding accessories, the fashion, the make-up, everything!) and juxtapositions it all in unconventional ways. He does it with a purposeful manner, creating Hip Hop interpretations of fashion and glamour, breaking the limits the status quo for those styles . His recognition of the the unique beauty of the Afrosensual is evident in his works and he has this uncanny ability of portraying it in ways we’ve never seen before.

Erikka, the Earth Angel
My good friend had a sample from a company selling natural pregnancy and birthing products. Their slogan was : Earth mama, Angel baby. I combined the two and Earth Angel was born. It seemed fitting.
I wanted to be a supermodel. I love the camera and the camera loves me. Even as a child, my mother tells me.
The types of images I felt I needed to produce were run-of-the-mill, everyone has done it poses. Like almost every girl, I wanted to be in magazines, be seen as sexy and exotic but my wonderful photogs had another vision for me. I have learned so much poise, grace and...

I asked EddieMarie what did she would want her earthSista name to be if she chose to become one and she immediately said Nala (from the Lion King) and I saw it. Nala was the beautiful young lioness who playfully and frequently teased Simba, the once and future Lion King. As children they were playmates and best friends and when they were older, Nala inspires Simba to make the right decisions that lead to him becoming her King and she becoming his Queen.
Nala would fit this statuesque top model in the making because she is indeed an inspiration. With her, decidedly, Afrocentric spin on the traditional...

If I had my way, I’d shoot sistas with natural hair exclusively. It’s not only the natural hairstyle that’s appealing, but it’s the mindset that usually accompanies the external appearance. For a sista to wear her hair as the Creator intended, it requires a certain degree of self-love and an appreciation for the beauty of her blackness. I love to capture images of natural beauty, and there’s something “unnatural” about a woman wearing a weave and with a mountain of makeup. When I first met Kelishia, my initial impression was...

Photographers delight in the ability to “paint with light,” to create images that captivate and tantalize the viewer. Like everything else in the universe, this creativity flows in cycles; it waxes and wanes just as the new moon eventually becomes full, then new again. And during those times when we fly upon the wings of creativity, we breathe again, hence the term, “inspire.”
Inspiration can come in many ways. For photographers, we are often inspired by the subjects we shoot. Fortunately, I was given the honor to work with KarenAlise. I was entertaining a concept...

He says he’s an EccentricSoul with a vision. And from his imagination he tells stories of the unseen. Indeed. As an artist of photography, Remy constantly, seeks to elevate himself creatively by stepping outside of his fine art comfort zone and manifesting his style for fashion and couture. And he seeks out women and men who DARE to step outside the box with him. All of his models agree that when they work with him, he definitely takes their ports to another level.
Remy employs colours in their vivid and primary forms. He exploits their richness to enhance the passion in his captures....
