This could be considered a tongue-in-cheek response to my friend Leslie’s recent sets of Sunday Cuteness. They seemed to have gotten a little testosterone heavy, so, you could see this as my effort to balance that out.
Naturally Leslie was one of the first people I found in the blogging world when I started these journals on the Garden. She is thoughtful and matter-of-fact in her statements and genuine in her entries. She seems to touch folks where they live and I’ve admired her “realness” as an element of her natural beauty.
I’d hoped that she would, one day, allow...

So I’m at Apache Cafe and Lounge and I am talking to some of the patrons about the portal and the types of images I think we should capture. Artistic…sexy…provocative, most of the things we say are typically used for almost every other venue that focuses on creating beautiful images of women. But no matter how sexy or revealing, there is some aspect to the content that has to be considered.
Now not all of what is posted to the portal will be for everyone’s taste. And I personally feel that I walk a line when I consider what I want to create for the Garden. And this is the...

Sheree Swann loves capturing the unique beautiful in all people. Finding photography liberating, she uses it to create opportunities to elevate her mind and spirit. Her images are, fascinating explorations and sensuously artistic. They are funky and they are fierce, appealing to that edgy quality in us all.
Life, the way Sheree see it, “is bold, colorful and full of contrast”, which is reflected in her work.
“I love to show people how I see them, in the light of being beautiful, even if they don’t see that beauty in themselves. With that, I will continue to create art through...

A pictorial moment of the images Beauty and I sought to capture on that overcast day. I wish we could have done more but I think these final few works portray the feel I wanted to portray.

The words are hers. I couldn’t embellish them any better if I tried. I was thoroughly impressed by their edgy and in-you-face approach to fashion & glamour photography. And the afrocentric natural element in the aesthetic is almost incidental, yet pivotal to success of these captures. But I say too much; the words and images of B Breezy…

Charlisha is a model that I’ve recently spoken to online about joining us in the Garden. A Fashion Merchandising student, Charlisha wants to focus on art and fashion photography as both a model and photographer. Being a lover of art, she wants to use captures to provoke visual stimulations to the mind. She has also ventured into acting. Her beauty has been captured by the likes of Patrick Covington , Kever Conyers III , the KS Collection and B L O P H O T O. You can check out her modeling portfolio here and her photography portfolio here. I look forward to seeing what she chooses...

Racism exists inside the black race. Light skinned versus dark skin, long ‘good’ hair versus kinky hair, and now African versus African-American. It is not the models themselves doing this. It is the industry that has decided what black beauty has to look like.
