Honestly, is that proverb really true?
The Baobab tree truly is a source of inspiration. Its generous spirit and life-giving properties has been renowned in stories told for centuries. The Baobab is one of the longest living trees in the world. Native to the dry plains of Central Africa, where its considered by many to be the dwelling place of departed spirits, the baobab has been used as a source of water by some and a home by others.
Looking like trees that have been planted upside down these uniquely iconic symbols of long life inspired earthSista MoEss and artists Maurice Evans and Grace...

So much is happening in Pangea’ Garden right now, that I have to be honest and say that I am having a hard time keeping up and sharing it all with you.

Maurice Evans
I have a series of paintings called the “Water Bearers”. These paintings were inspired by African women. One day, I was looking through my bedroom window and notice two African women dressed in traditional clothing. They were carrying loads of clothes on top of their heads. With their hips swaying from side to side, I watched as they balanced with perfection these heavy loads. Even with all the weight on top of their heads they still managed to look regal, beautiful, and graceful as they walked and talked to each other heading to their destination …. which was obviously...

I am Vincent Christie, the creator of this blog and the latest entries were not from me. They were the works and words of Artist and Photographer Tamara Natalie Madden. And she joins the Project as a regular contributor to the Garden.
A Jamaican native, I’ve known Tamara since she moved to Atlanta five years ago. The young creative has lived through some challenges. Diagnosed in 1997 with a life threatening genetic kidney disease called IGA Nephropathy, her art became her lifeline. But as her health deteriorated she decided to take trip home to Jamaica where she discovered she had a long...

Maurice Evans is the photographer and PrettyBlak is the muse. And together they have created some astounding works. Some of the works they created were featured in the blog, the PangaeasGardenProject because I considered their works to be influential and inspirational to the vision here. They have created a LOT of beautiful, provocative and highly imaginative works of art together. Within a few brief years, Maurice has established himself as one of the best in the field of Black Art and his works has delighted countless collectors of African-American art. No matter the subject or whether the works...

A while back, I created an entry where I mentioned that I was impressed by the works of the artist Maurice Evans and his muse PrettyBlak. So impressed that I asked them if they would be interested in participating in the Garden. They said yes and proceeded to create a fabulous collection of images that are works of art in themselves. They will be a part of the launch of the portal slated for later this month. In the meantime check out these images of from behind the scene.
PrettyBlak is a model and you find her here. Check out the works of Maurice here and here.

Maurice Evans is a painter and photographer who marries both skill sets to create some astounding works. Humble ’til the end, he was genuinely surprised when I told him I wanted to feature his works on the blog because I considered him and his works to be influential and inspirational to the vision here. Within a few brief years, Maurice has established himself as one of the best in the field of Black Art and his works has delighted countless collectors of African-American art. No matter the subject or whether the works are executed on paper, wood or canvas – the texture, intense colors,...
