BlaqButtaphly… LIBERATION

“Vincent and I set out early morning to do another shoot for Pangeas Garden.  We pulled up to a secluded lake somewhere in Lithonia Ga. Somewhere I didn’t know existed. Thanks Vincent ( I appreciate you showing me the beauty that exists in our backyards). Its 10am and the sun is already teasing my amber bronze skin causing tiny drops of morning dew (really sweat, but morning dew sounds so much more delicious!). Picture perfect. Not knowing what to expect, i was excited and eager to get the day flowing. People…let me just say…. i got some Goooooooooooood vitamin D on this...

pgp208: The Nature Stroll Series

Late in the spring, we started creating images of sistas and the earthSistas taking strolls around lakes and thru woods, basking in the sun and enjoying the flowing waters of the nearby lakes. Its was the beginning of a series we are calling Pangea’s Nature Stroll Series. There is an inherent splendor in humanity’s communion with nature; its a humbling and sensuous reverence for the miracles we are fortunate to be a part of. And I hope this series pays homage to that impression. Some of the sets are sistas who simply decided to take a stroll and do a shoot while  several were of...

Chadoe… a proud & strong princess

Chadoe carries herself like a nubian princess surveying the Serengeti in this third installment of the Nature’s Stroll series. Such a stance is what comes natural to her. Head held high with a steely gaze, she either looks you in the eye as if to peer directly into your soul for some hidden truth or she looks to the heavens like a woman with a vision. Thoughtful, nurturing and curious are all aspects of her character. She is also fierce, guarded and passionate. Spirited and positive, Chadoe loves her family and loves her people. And she is only saddened by the negativity we thrust upon ourselves...

pgp204: Pangea’s “secret garden”

Just a quick moment of indulgence. After wrapping up this year’s Nature Stroll series a bunch of us got together for a picnic at Pangea’s “secret garden.” Its no secret really, just a favorite for us to gather and create images and simply be one with nature. We have great shots and I was so anxious to share them that I put a few in my profile’s album. Did you know that you could post images in your album? Anyway check’em out and tell me what you think. And while you are at it, post some of your pics too! Bookmark on Delicious Digg this post Recommend on Facebook...

GreenRose & FlowerChild… earthSistas tried and true

Free-spirited best friends on a nature’s stroll. It was carefree, genuine and experimental. On this second installment of the Nature’s Stroll series, GreenRose and FlowerChild decided to do step into the Garden as earthSistas together. The day was slightly overcast and there was an almost mystical chemistry in the air. Personally, I was envious of the friendship that these two young women have. They finished others sentences and had all of these private jokes… even though they were young, you could tell that they had been very close for years. There was nothing sexual in their...

MoEss … a chat on the gazebo

Smiling, impulsive and full of vision. These thoughts were the impressions I remember from the leisurely stroll I shared with MoEss (short for MoreEssence.) On this pleasantly, overcast day, MoEss was inquisitive and open and loquacious. And as we meandered around a lake to reach the cover of one its gazebos, I couldn’t help but be impressed by this woman. She talked about all of the potentially exciting things we were going to do in the Garden and some of the fantastic ideas she had about future photoshoots and Pangea gear. Her enthusiasm inspired me! MoEss was funny and revealing, sassy...

pgp195: GreenRose & FlowerChild… a preview to a stroll

earthSistas FlowerChild and GreenRose. Their first steps into the Garden, are the beginning of an exploratory series of images that focus on the natural beauty of women in nature. Many of the images will be like the ones here; artistic, experimental… while other will be be lush, colorful and bright. All are intended to be rich and intimate portrayals of the earthSistas communion with their surrounding and the harmonious sensual beauty it creates. FlowerChild and GreenRose are like sisters, literally. They’ve been best friends for years, sharing a bond that is genuine and supportive....

Beauty…moments in the sun…

Overcast clouds were the forecast, and it was unexpected. As luck would have it, the weather for the week prior to shoot day had been nothing but sunshine. We had this great idea for a shoot but it required a strong burst of natural sunlight, similar to the day before, and the days before that and so on… Anyway, we decided to make the best of it. We shot outside, taking advantage of the even sunlighting you can get when the sun hides behind the clouds. We wanted to use the lush untamed backyard to this Carribean-themed jukejoint when it happened. God smiled on us that day. The clouds parted,allowing...

Radiantz…A lakeside stroll…

People fished the lake where we did this shoot, frequently. I could see why. Its very picturesque. Lush, green, clear and open, the lake was circled on one side with natural walking path. This is where Radiantz and I created most of our captures. She was alternately serious and playful through out the shoot, depending on what we talked about at the time. Initially we’d intended to start shooting around 9 am but did not get started until 11:30 and I was worried about the heat and onlookers but it, all in all it was quite pleasant. Radiantz had posed for me a few times before and I was very...
