Sunday in the Garden

This week a new Garden Voice will begin and its focus will be on the fashion and glamour. Called Fashion & Glamour Naturalle, it features the perspective of those in Fashion Culture who are inspired by Naptual and Afrosensual beauty. Our first feature will be the works of Dexter Sir Real Jones. He’s one those “next level” people… you know them, right? They are the ones who can’t help but to take photography to the level of art. earthSista Sincere debuts her first image set. Her edgy sensuality is captured against artistry of the urban landscape. First we take...

There is so much beauty in the world… Going into this week we have a lot look forward. Fashion model Errika, the Earth Angel make an appearance in the Pangea’s Garden Project with images of her own beauty and thoughts on Fashion culture, music and and the struggle to find comfort in her own skin. We finally see the much demanded (believe me, everybody, I heard you!!!) second part of the Photographer’s Cut of Scottie’s AfroerotiK romance, AT Last. Raw and colorful, these final captures that were originally (and wrongfully) left on the cutting room floor make their appearance...

pgp189: Zora&Alice and Pangea’s earthSistas

The earthSistas have caught the attention of Zora&Alice. Zora&Alice is an online community that provides a fresh, smart voice for young black women. The site covers a range of topics, with special focus on career, culture, sexuality and women’s issues. Recently they contacted Tafakari, Pangea’s Content Director and interviewed her, mostly asking questions about the earthSistas. Check it out! pgp177: building a social network in the Garden

We should be able to commune with one another here in the Garden. Its something we’ve been working towards since we began the Project over a year ago and I am finally glad to say that we’ve started adding the tools to do so. When we launched the PangeasGarden.com last September, it was in response to the popularity of the original blog on blogspot and we wanted to expand on what we were able to contribute to the Garden. And we’ve done all that. But we also wanted to allow others to share their own creative endeavors that exalt Afrocentric sensuality and beauty, past messages to...

pgp172: the beginnings of SoulLyric…

Kirei Na’s birthday was just a few days before the New Year, providing the perfect opportunity for a Pangea’s Garden gathering. And what started out as an Open Mic event, quickly became a night of intimate and passionate verse, setting the tone for events in the future. I’ve included a few captures of the event along with one spoken words musings brought to us by ButtahFly. You can see more captures, another video and some paparazzi-style shots PangeasGarden.com’s newly founded blog. This was the Garden’s first public event and we have planned another for Wednesday...

pgp170: You are invited…

This our first public get-together and we hope you can make it out. One the EarthSistas in the Garden will be celebrating her birthday and we are asking anyone who wants to do so, to get on the mic as part of the party. We are supposed to be creating some captures and maybe some moving pictures as well so it should be pretty exciting. Marlo, the EarthSistas Model Coordinator is one of the key folks involved in organizing the event but there are others involved as well. She is the contact for questions as well as letting us know if you want to be on the mic and you contact her at 678.643.1205. For...

pgp165: a preview to an intimate communique

An experimental black & white image set of an impromptu moment. Hershey stood next to the windowed door so that I could watch how the light fell on her when she got a phone call. And then she got a text. Followed by a phone call another text and so on. They were all with the same person and this continued for a while. I wasn’t really listening but from the expressions on her face there was some obvious drama going on. Curious about how the emotion in these captures would look like, I continued shooting. Hershey, aware and curious herself, consciously positioned herself provocatively....
