THE COIFFURE PROJECT by Baltimore-based artist Glenford Nunez is a collection of photographs featuring black women in all their natural-curly-coiffed-haired beauty.
Nunez, a 25-year-old photographer, is the founder Baltimore-based TYP Photography Studio and fortuitously created, ‘The Coiffure Project.’ The project came about when the photographer decided to snap shots of his natural hair assistant. From those original shots, the project was born. Nunez hopes to continue to expand the project and is on the lookout for some curly-haired models.
Back in July, The Huffington Post’s Black Voices shared that Nunez designed and self-published a book on the project using money he earned from working as a full-time photographer. In addition, he took his time finding the right distributors for the project to insure quality and make it affordable. The, “The Coiffure Project” hardcover coffee table book is being sold on Blurb.com for $130, in addition to a paperback version available for $18 on Amazon.com.
“My main goal was not to make a profit off the book, it was just so that the book could be in the world — so it could exist, so people could have access to it,” Nunez told The Huffington Post.
