For its Sixth cycle of Frofashion Week, Tarin Boones of NaturallyMeMedia.com, the event’s creator, went with the theme “GOTHIX.” As part of the celebration, they launched a competition: who will be the cover model for GOTHIX? The contest required that entrants submit a photoshoot embodying the “Goth” theme highlighting fashion, hair and makeup. Then each contestant had 3 weeks to gain the popular vote. ZAIRE decided to enter.
“When I first heard of the competition I instantly started to research what Goth truly was and which variation of it fit me. After about 3 hours looking on the internet…I had no idea there were so many variations of Goth.” Zaire told us. “So I took a few online quizzes regarding ‘What type of Goth are you?’ and all the quizzes came back ‘Vampire Goth.’ Who can argue with that? I then contacted my favorite photographer, Marlando Falconer.”
Zaire went on to say, “We got to work on making this image I had in my mind a reality. I was very pleased with how the shoot came out. It was also my first time really pushing hard to get votes on something like this. I am grateful to all who had voted and helped me win.”
Needless to say, Zaire won the competition. In the press release about the competition, Frofashion Week stated, “The ‘Fro Fashion Week judges felt Zaire best embodied the GOTHIXS theme from hair, makeup, and fashion perspectives. Her photoshoot was gorgeous and we are proud to have her grace our materials this season.”
