Inspired by my love for my people, art and imagery, I gave birth to Unspoken Word Designs (UWD) in 2004. One of my missions of UWD is to provoke thought through artistic expression and to reintroduce positive, reflective messages that encompass empowerment, inspiration and motivation to a diverse audience. I believe that if you provoke a little thought, you have the ability to change the world!
I am a mommy, artist, educator, entrepreneur, dancer, leader….a queen. All of my worlds are interconnected and is yearning or some growth…..nurturing…freedom…something fresh, funky and empowering.
I am a firm believer that an unspoken word is simply a thought, idea or dream waiting to
take flight….waiting for a voice or the strength to soar and explore its possibilities. I adore creating collages and approach the creation of each and every one as a journey and exploration. These journeys are spiritual, educational, and historical and visually thought provoking. Through my collage journey’s I enjoy giving those thoughts, dreams and ideas courage to grow and soar. Much of my collage art, for me, is a depiction of the fragmented nature of the world, but also its togetherness. Elements of the world can be brought as one in a new reality; disjointed different but deeply connected nonetheless.
On October 18, 2010, I began my collage-a-day therapy to allow the space and time to do just that….grow….reflect and create. Some collages are reflective of what I was feeling that day. Some reflect a thought, theme or idea that I simply had to explore through a creative medium. Others reflect a style or technique that I wanted to explore or learn. Every collage is purposeful in my growth as a woman….as an artist.
