“It was Sunday and I had the pleasure of joining freedom fighter, Kalonji Changa and his crew in a concerted effort to nourish the bodies and souls of hundreds of hungry Atlantans. I was grateful and humbled to be in the presence of such wonderful brothers and sisters that willfully donate their time (at least) two times a month to prepare food and clothing to serve some of the less fortunate that dwell in the city. As the founder/director of The FTP Movement, Kalonji developed missions such as Feed The People, MOBB (Mothers of Black and Brown Babies), and Siafu Youth Group. (Kalonji gave an in-depth interview here in the Garden.) He’s also penned a book, “How to Build a People’s Army“. This revolutionary’s list of accomplishments is at LEAST two blocks long. He hosts Black August Weekend in Oakland and Atlanta AND he hosts a weekly radio show on Harambee Radio. History is in the making with this movement, and although the revolution may not be televised…it will be photographed.”
Vincent here for a moment…
In a space like this… where we take the time to explore and celebrate our outer and inner beauty… it is important that we make time for that which is larger than us. Not only should we remember the needs of others that are greater than our own, we should act on that need and celebrate the efforts of those who do. Pick your cause and act on it. Mine is Feeding The People and Urban Organic Farming.
