We did a couple of Pangea’s Meet & Greets last year and they were geared towards a few of us getting to know each other better with the hopes and intentions of creating works together. I don’t think I say it enough but Pangea’s Garden is not an online magazine whose focus is a single perspective of the Afrosensual Aesthetic. It is a network of individuals with an appreciation for afrosensual culture and beauty with our varying perspectives on how to celebrate that.
When I started it, it was a blog on blogspot where I thought I would change the world with my individual perspective on a beauty that no one was giving proper attention. But, almost immediately, I came across the photographic works of Gus Bennett and Saddi Khali and Maurice Evans and Tamara Natalie Madden and so many more. I came to appreciate the artworks of Michael Thompson and Elton Leonard among others as well. We’ve been fortunate to feature the adornments of Tara Baker and Nobella Creations and HarvestGirl and Liberation all whose works are part of the culture that cultivates the beauty we celebrate.
Indeed, Pangea’s Garden is the place where ALL aspects of afrosensual culture are given voice. And if you’ve already spent some time here, then you know what I mentioned above part of the story. The Beauty is Deep. With pause given to causes like the FTP Movement and Troy Davis, we in Pangea seek to feature the passions for justice that motivate and inspire the inner beauty that compels us.
And as we move forward, we will continue to grow the Garden. Look out for PGTV which will consolidate the video content featured here into individual channels. We are also starting the Natural Glamour series of our earthSistas, where we will take their image sets to the next level. And, as always, we will feature the endeavors of Afrosensuality… in fashion, art, photography, health, beauty & glamour, causes of justice… everywhere. We are not a magazine. We are a community. We are y0u.
So this is an open invitation. Let us feature your celebrations of afrosensuality. Send us your works and words ([email protected]) so that we can share with rest of our growing body of cultivators. And please share your thoughts on what you see here. We love the fact you have joined us, but don’t be timid. There is no place in Pangea for that.
As I mentioned in the beginning there were a couple of Pangea’s Meet & Greets last year. I was awed by the adornments and marking that Sista Liberation provided at both events. Her afrocentric artistry raised the standard to a whole other level allowing us to be able to create works of beauty, art AND glamour. earthSista SUCCESS, discovered the waterfalls, thank you sista! Photographer Bobby Williams shared his studio at Atlanta’s Goat Farm, an artists’ community built from the remnants of old warehouse spaces. A while back, I posted some of the behind scenes captures that I created along with a few shots of my own captures. This set is are a few images that the photographers created from the event.
