“…before Insanity, I weighed in at 163 lbs. on a 5’7″ frame after two kids and haven’t done ANY type of exercise.”
Here’s my recap of Week 5 of Insanity that I’d chronicled daily. Week 5 landed on Month 2 of Insanity, which meant that the exercises were going to be way more tougher and longer. I had to mentally prepare myself for it.
Day 37 of 60: Max Interval Plyo – completed. One-legged v-pushups. Pogo jumps. Side pushups. Diamond jumps. Level 3 drills. These things have one thing in common. They are things that I never attempted before. By far, this was the hardest 55 mins. ever. I had to give myself a pep talk to get through the workout. I stayed focused. I drank my recovery formula and I’m good. I hope after all of the squat pushups, balance pushups, and power jumps that I will have a fit body.
Day 38 of 60: Max Interval Conditioning- completed! My butt and quads are screaming at me!! I’d done so many jumps and squats that I had to make sure I didn’t pop in the Plyo DVD by accident. lol
I was thinking the other day that knowing myself, I may do another round of Insanity in order to really get the body I want. I have seen folks do two rounds or so for them to get in shape. Mind y’all…before Insanity, I weighed in at 163 lbs. on a 5’7″ frame after two kids and haven’t done ANY type of exercise. So it may take more than 60 days for me to get the body I desire. Don’t get me wrong…I’m soooo not trying to look like half my age again or be super skinny because I’m not built that way. Eating right and staying active are the main components towards Operation Outer Fine. I’m sticking with it. 🙂
Day 39 of 60: Max Recovery – completed! This is wayyyy different than the Cardio Recovery! It’s 45 mins. of core, stretching, and body work but not as intense as the Max Intervals. The low/high plank work had my arms and chest hurting. I found myself stopping and stretching. The plie’ squat pulses??? Lawdhabmercy ….my legs felt those big time. I did sweat, but not even remotely close to my regular workouts. Operation Outer Fine is still in effect.
Day 40 of 60: Max Interval Circuit- completed! I can’t believe 40 days have gone by!!! Forty days of pushing myself to have a healthier, more toned body. I know for sure I will do another round of this. This time around, I was a bit more cautious to get the form right versus doing the exercises quickly. Trying to think of a way to reward myself after this…swimsuit photo shoot maybe? Hmmm…
Day 41 of 60: Max Interval Plyo- completed! This time I did the more difficult side pushups and pushup jumps. My arms are tired! My legs and butt are tired from the plyo! *sigh* Tomorrow is my rest day. I think all of the hard work and effort I’d done…it’s well deserved. 🙂
Day 42: Rest Day- completed…possibly the easiest day to complete. No workouts today. Just relax. Tomorrow begins a new workout week!
After viewing the recap, does this give you a better insight of the program? If so, how?
Firstly, congrats! I saw the pictures from your last post … impressive! I’ve heard people taking about P90X before, but they were already quite fit and were doing it mostly for the challenge of it; so you’re the first person I’ve seen use these high intensity programs for a body transformation or an “Operation Outer Fine” 🙂 It’s interesting to read that you had not done any type of exercise before. I would be in that same category (though I did swim when I was younger). I’ve been promising myself some abs for a couple of years now, but Insanity, as you describe it, does seem quite intense. I’m guessing the very quick results does help to keep you motivated, but it also sounds like you have a laser-like focus on your goal as well. I think I’m more inclined to try something like a P90B(eginner), lol … just to help cultivate the habit of regular exercise. I did get an exercise DVD late last year so I’ll probably start with that. It is inspiring and motivating though to hear about your experience, so thanks for sharing. Hopefully I’ll start my own fitness journey sooner rather than later. Hope you knock round 2 out of the park! Much love!
