This past Saturday Night was Spread Love’s annual Felabration party. This party is a celebration of the music and life of Fela Kuti . This Felabration was special because the musical FELA ! was here in Atlanta that week, and it was the 10th anniversary of Rich Medina’s Jump N Funk Party . It was a very good night from the start all the way to the end of the night. When I got there Dj Kemit was getting the vibe started and the spot was packed by 11:00 . Then after Kemit had folks warmed up and dancing, The Darryl Reeves Group came on for a quick live performance of a few of Fela’s songs. They were later joined on stage by The Geurilla Dance Project . After that the packed house was in for a treat when some of the members of Antibalas and the rest of the band from The Musical FELA ! got on stage with some if the cast. Then to add to that Sahr Ngaujah, who plays Fela in the play, got on stage and gave the crowd a extra treat with a couple of selections from the show. And just when you thought that it could not get any better, Dj Rich Medina came on to wrap up the evening with is his Afro Beat selections and Mark Hines providing his video collages of underground and popular African culture. And it was Mark ‘s birthday that night so Happy Birthday To Ya Mark !!!!! But enough of me lets see the pics.

enjoy
