A bit about TTColes…

Initially, it was the naked walls of her new condo begging to be clothed that inspired a passion in Ms. Terra “TT” Coles. Almost instantaneously, what began as a hobby with a simple point and shoot camera became a lifestyle that Coles now lives and breathes.

TT Coles was blessed with a creative spirit by nature. Coles’ creativity manifested itself in her life in many forms before she honed in and nurtured her skills as a photographer. She’s now a self-taught photo-documentarian who picks up pointers when studying the images and techniques of accomplished photographers such as Lorna Simpson, Henri Cartier-Bresson and Deborah Fleming Caffery. Coles enthusiastically and continually learns more about her craft on every set and impromptu shoot. Now, even as a “green” artist, TT Coles’ photographs jump with color and strike emotional chords in black and white.

Coles captures the beauty in the most unexpected moments—the way car lights dance through the curves of a busy freeway, a subtle joke shared between lovers and the natural glow of a timid smile. Each photograph TT Coles frames screams with passion. Even her still shots move to a muted rhythm.

Like a hopeless romantic, TT Coles has a love affair with an element of each shoot she stages. Whether it’s the way the light catches someone’s features, or how nature is forced to give way when the wind blows, she always feels privileged to be a part of that moment. The natural gravitation she has toward her subjects is proven in her prints, which illuminate her creative perspective and send a clear message that the work of TT Coles is relevant to this space and time.

Wow! TT is definitely worth mentioning! Her work is superb! The colors are rich. Lovely juxtaposition in the image with Jamila and the balloons at the bottom of the stairs. I don’t know Jamila, but I feel like she seems like a warm, loving, carefree spirit. Thank you for sharing and I look forward to seeing more of TT’s work. 🙂
