When I walked into Afro Rythmia, a bath of art, music, sensuality and culture washed over me, all in the first moment. It was raw and imaginative and fierce. Basically it was everything that inspires me.

The concept of the one-time event was the impulsive brainchild of Yaisa of Sun Goddess Jewelry and the idea was that it was an event where music and art collide. The event “is an Afro-Bohemian globally inspired festival that invites the community to engage in celebration of music & the arts.”

My sista from another Mista never does anything half-ass. The experience she created was musically uninhibited, uncensored, dramatic and creative. It was stylistic, trendy, glamorous and sexy too. All of this can be said about earthSista EmeraldPhoenyx.

The diminutive yet curvy, dark-skinned beauty is a presence that demands attention with absolutely no intention of seeking it; it just comes naturally. We created a few captures with the crowd before we stepped to the side, for a moment, to create the images featured in this interlude. The inspiring earthSista is naturally theatrical and I found it provocative. EmeraldPhoenyx is that woman who looks you in the eye and, without saying a word, she dares you to make your move and do it fiercely.

And we were both moved by the astounding event that Yaisa had created along with the community it brought together. There was a level of liberation and exhibitionism that told us it was okay to be bold and restricted, and not be limited by the myopic dysfunctions of the world outside Afro Rythmia. We were inspired by it all and celebrated by those around us.

This interlude is at the root of Pangea’s Garden in that experiences like these are why Pangea exists in the first place. It is in this space where that exotic beauty that has always been next door, finally finds it’s voice.

Just look. And listen.

Vincent, Pangea’s Gardener

in·ter·lude | ˈin(t)ərˌlo͞od | noun  1 an intervening period of time. 2 a temporary amusement or source of entertainment that contrasts with what goes before or after.

An Interlude in the Garden is a momentary collection of casual captures. They are informal and open and sometimes intimate. Interludes can be spontaneous; they can be exploratory. An Interlude can be an icebreaker, where photographer and muse get to know each other. In an impulsive moment, earthSista EmeraldPhoenyx and Vincent, Pangea’s Gardener, found a space at an inspiring event and created these captures.

Beautiful.

earthSistas in nature; what could be better inspiration? Momentary strolls that were reflective, imaginative, provocative and creative leading to some revealing moments in which beauty both inside and out are exposed. And with this exposure… through this unveiling… there is a serenity. There is a euphoric communion with nature that is liberating. And whether she’s a country girl or urbanista, all of the earthSistas seem to find a moment of peace that, like their beauty, is inside and out.

The Afrosensual Aesthetic is the GardenVoice that pushes the limits and deepens the perspective. It is still be done from a position of respect, pride and joy, but here we will be able to explore themes that don’t quite fit within the earthSista box. Its is a place for the sensual lovermakers and the premium cultivators. Check it out and share your thoughts and ideas and passions.
