True beauty & pin-up glamour

Sometimes a lot of folks just don’t get.

They hear or see the words ‘afrocentric,’ ‘afrosensual’ and ‘natural’ and they get this image in their heads of black women in dashikis with hairy underarms and no make-up. And maybe you can say there’s a certain appeal to raw beauty that is afrosensual. But it is only ONE aspect of the Afrosensual Aesthetic.

The beauty of afrosensuality is ubiquitous. It belongs everywhere. It is fashionable. It is dramatic. It is futuristic. It is Rock-n-Roll. It is Hip Hop. It is Alternative. It is cheesecake and it is pin-up. Where ever there is a place where black people can embrace and celebrate their own beauty as part of the party, there is afrosensuality.

earthSista Ekah is a pin-up model. She and fashion photographer Nate Tyler came together to create these images. And in the process they broadened the perspective of a genre. Hopefully, they’ve broadened yours as well.

Playful. Naughty. Cute. These are the images that break the mold. They take the genre of pin-up glamour to a richer level. Afrosensual beauty is deep, y’all. Would you not agree?

Nate Tyler is  a Washington,DC  area based photographer who relocated to the area after serving in the US. Army for six years. He is extremely passionate about photography and even more passionate about his work. Versatile and creative, Tyler is an artisan who seeks with a wide range from commercial glamour to pure art. It is his goal to provide you high quality images that I possibly can. Nate says that, through Mental Photoz, he seeks to go beyond the norm and experiment with concepts, colors, shadows, and light with the intent of creating our vision of beauty!
