Back in July, Lupita Nyong’o posed for the cover of VOGUE for the first time. And I missed it. It can be like that sometimes and while it’s past time to get the word out to anyone who already knows, it’s never to late the celebrate the beauty that is always timeless and belongs everywhere.

The shoot took place in Marrakesh in during an unseasonably hot May. The article in VOGUE by Hamish Bowles revealed that the images were created at a luxury “spa hostelry built in imitation of a castle-like fort.” The images are lush and rich with culture. Artistically composed with Nyong’o adorned in  J.Crew, Yossi Harari and Prada, just to name a few, the images by Photographer Mikael Jansson are elegant and full of fantasy.

During Bowles interview with Lupita, she mentioned that during meetings with Lancome’s executives (for whom she was, now, one of their beauty ambassadors) she recalled a speech a speech from earlier  i the year Essence’s Black Women in Hollywood Luncheon where she said, “I remember a time when I too felt unbeautiful,” recalling feeling like a flower blooming inside her when Sudanese model Alek Wek started to achieve her own model fame.

The article goes into provocative detail about her past, her family, her rise and it implications. Yeah, I missed it the first time, but it’s well worth the read if you haven’t seen it yet. Click on the banner below and check it  out.
