Ritual.
For earthSista AsmaraMaat, movement is akin to sacrament. For the young dancer it is a discipline of personal motion that creates clarity and calmness and sensuous of her own body. Through a ritualistic practice of Asaana (what most people think of as yoga) she builds harmony between body, mind and environment.
Beginning with a ceremonial cleansing of her surroundings, AsmaraMaat burns a sage smudge stick to clear the space of residual negative energy. She starts by using the sage to cleanse her personal and then her environment. AsmaraMaat says, “Did you know that while sage clears space, it also leaves a space open for any kind of energy to enter. Be sure that your bundles are mixed with something sweet, such as Rosemary or lavender to bring in all those high vibes.”
When she moves, there is something celebratory about. Her breathing is measured and posters are taxing but the earthSista is meditative. AsmaraMaat is on a blissful journey of inner discovery.
Self-Awareness is joyous. Self-love is beautiful.
“You find peace not by rearranging the circumstances of your life, but by realizing who you are at the deepest level.”
