Hey music lovers,
So last go-round, I dropped a gem by Anthony Valadez featuring Mar. And then I realized, y’all need to know ’bout Mar. The Dutchman with the curly fro and sensual tenor. So let me put you on to game.
I was first introduced to Mar through his work with producer Full Crate. Mar adds a delectable layer of sexiness to Full Crate’s soft, soulful sounds. Peep the ode to post-coital bliss, “Aftersexin’,” to hear what I’m talking about.
Then he was featured on B. Lewis’ “Day 4: First of You.” So he’s not just about lust and sex; he’s also got some “just-fell-in-love” sweetness going on. Making me wanna stroll through the park, watching winter turn to spring…
After a litany of features, and a stellar collection of covers, Mar finally released his own EP of original music, Seeing Her Naked. While short, it showcases his ability to venture from the kind of R&B you hear on the radio to the kind of R&B folks will be imitating in the future. And that’s why I want you to know about him. If you’ve read prior editions of Sunset’s Soundcheck, you know how strongly I feel about the bevy of great, progressive, but unpopular music out there. But I also don’t feel the need to shit on what’s currently hot. Cause some of it is… hot. Mar is able to glide seamlessly through both worlds, leaving a trail of panties in his wake.
Get into Seeing Her Naked below, and check out Mar and Full Crate LIVE on their summer tour.
Until next time…
