“My soft mommy belly showed itself relentlessly along with back fat that I’d developed from gaining weight over the last few months.”

This past September, I was getting ready to go out to celebrate my friend’s birthday.  I found my favorite red-orange dress in my closet along with my leopard print-heels.  I tried on the dress and noticed that my belly poked out a bit more than I cared.  Thinking fast, I grabbed my Spanx out of my dresser drawer.  I danced my way into them to ensure that my soft mommy belly was completely covered and then smoothed the dress down.  Glancing at the mirror, I deemed myself looking decent, touched up my makeup, stepped into my shoes, and made my way out.

The following week, I checked my Facebook notifications.  I’d seen one notification that said I was tagged in a few of my friend’s pictures that were taken the night of her birthday.  As I scrolled through the images, I was completely taken aback.  I thought I looked great that night, but the images said otherwise.  The Spanx failed me that night.  My soft mommy belly showed itself relentlessly along with back fat that I’d developed from gaining weight over the last few months.  I looked like I stuffed myself in a dress two sizes too small.  I shook my head and damn near sobbed.  I made a vocal promise to get myself in shape and find something that I can stick with.

“This program is not for those who think they can do a few workouts here or there, and still eat whatever the hell they want.   It takes focus, determination, and commitment.”

I stumbled across Insanity a few days later.  What appealed to me was the fact that I didn’t need any extra equipment to do the workouts.  My body will provide the weight and resistance.  I immediately ordered it.  The package arrived a couple of days later.  I marked my calendar to start Operation Outer Fine on October 1st.  Yes, Operation Outer Fine is a mission to work on a healthier, sleeker, and sexier version of me in 60 days.

Just to let you all know…Insanity is no damn joke!  This shit is real!  This program is not for those who think they can do a few workouts here or there, and still eat whatever the hell they want.   It takes focus, determination, and commitment.  I had to stop drinking beverages that contained excessive amounts of sugar.  I couldn’t eat fried foods.  My spice rack has been put to great use to flavor my food without the extra butter and oils.  I had to make sure to eat 5-6 small meals a day, which is a plus for me since I’m a major foodie. However, I had to choose the right kind of foods that are good for me and not go over my target caloric intake.

The first day during the fit test, I soaked my workout clothes and socks full of sweat because I tried to complete every exercise.  This made me anxious to do the next day’s exercise.  As each day passed, I patted myself on the back and continued to work hard to get in better shape.  I’ve done every single exercise for the last 34 days without missing one.  The results from Day 1 to Day 30 were mind blowing.  The definition in my arms, legs, and core are visible.  My backside is slowly getting the round “C” shape instead of looking like a pair of sad “U’s”.  I feel so much better waking up every morning.  I make better choices choosing the right foods to eat.  I drink water religiously.  I’ve gotten into a couple of pairs of jeans that haven’t worn in a very long time.  The results from Day 1 to Day 30 were mind blowing after I compared the images side by side.

For the next four weeks, I will give my real, honest account of Month 2 of Insanity.  But check me out thus far in my Day 1/Day 30 comparison.

Have you tried a workout program advertised on TV?   What was your experience?  Would you attempt to try Insanity, P90X or other fitness programs based on someone’s results?
