It was the last picture show.
Pangea’s Afrosocial started as one of ArtMonday events at Apache Cafe and Lounge in Atlanta. Originally themed as a figure drawing session in a lounge setting, Pangea pushed the envelope to creating an interactive experience for Art Lovers as well as Artists. Tagged as that ‘Different Kind of Date Night,’ the intent was to engage all attendees in an escapade that was intimate, celebratory and memorable. We created themes that tested the boundaries of afrocentricity, art and sensuality. Some were successful than others. All were engaging and adventurous and artistic. This is a collection of moments that celebrate our last picture show at the Apache Cafe and Lounge on 3rd Street, Atlanta.
But the Garden is ever-growing and always evolving. When the owners of the old Apache Cafe asked us if we wanted to create an event in their raw space in West End Atlanta, we said sure. Murphy Park has graffiti, murals, skateboard ramps and couches. Pangea introduced the Shooters Lounge, as a space where photographers could come out, set up and shoot MUSES from Pangea’s Garden. We’ve collaborated with other groups in Atlanta like PunkBlack and SavageFam Productions to create unique photographic experiences.
But the last picture show may be upon us again. Thursday, Sep 19 may be our last time Shooters Lounge at Atlanta’s Murphy Park. If you are in Atlanta, join us. Click on the banner below for details.
