I’ve always had a camera in my hand therefore I was usually the designated photographer which was fine with me. When I did appear in photos I was usually surrounded by others.

Recently it came to my attention that I when a camera is pointed at me, I run. That visual was not appealing at all so I looked within and there I found myself inspired by my friend Letitia, who takes the most artist and creative selfies I’ve ever seen; Zanele Muholi, the South African photographer and visual activist who unapologetically captures herself in such a fiercely bold manner; and Frida Zahlo, the amazing Mexican painter who is quoted as saying: “I am my own muse. The subject I know best”.

After being inspired by these 3 amazing women, I decided to point the camera at myself and capture some self portraits.

These are the results.”
