At the Apache, the light low and colorful, casting shadow that, accompanied by music and verse, paid homage to that sense of passionate longing on a cold Monday night. Spoken word artist TinaATL stepped up to two stages last Monday, acting as muse to artists/photographers and sharing verse to creatives and patrons, alike. earthSistas Raine and WildOrchid were on fire. Joined by brothas Havok and Sherrod on the model podium, all entwined in positions of yearning that are patrons find provocative and creatives find inspiring.
After displaying her luvjonez for Raine on the model podium, TinaATL moved to the stage led the parade of poets who’s verse paid homage to the night’s celebrations. Chrysalis Sun, ANON the Griot, MekkaNycole and ArkAngel all joined her. Typically, the AfroSocial is too raucous and loud for spoken word but not this night. Everyone was captivated; moved by words that hit so close to home.
This feature is the beginning of a series of posts commemorating the ‘thirst’ that love can often generate. It is the passion that open the door for dramas, both good and bad, that keep life interesting. February is LuvJonez month in the Garden. More to come so stay tuned!
